Sometimes it's good to take a break from the new and go back
to places I've been and enjoy some down time. Without the distraction
and pressure of having to explore, photograph and navigate a new place,
I have a chance to relax a little and knock some things off my to-do
list. It was especially nice to come back to Helen in the springtime,
when the mountains were a brilliant velvety green and Helen itself
was not crazy with Oktoberfesters. I love it here. I love to see familiar
faces. It's like coming home. But there is still the unfortunate problem
with internet and phone service at the park. My cell
phone booster DOES help, but it can still be excruciatingly slow at times.

Now that I was out of alligator country, I had a chance to give Harley
a test run on the kayak on Lake Burton. This dog is just amazing. He
got on with no hesitation, laid down and started licking his
feet - totally chill. He instinctively knew not to rock the boat and
when he needed to shift his position, he did so with very little movement.
I have the greatest dog in the world.
