On the way to Ohio, I stopped for the night in Kentucky. There was
a Cracker Barrel conveniently located off the highway and just
five miles from the Buffalo Trace distillery, and it was the perfect
$0 overnight parking spot. Of course, it's always good to say thank
you by going inside and spending some money, and if you don't want
to eat there, they've got a large gift shop with some useful items.
In the morning, I drove to the distillery for an early tour before
another day of driving. Buffalo Trace makes some of my favorite bourbon
(Blanton's, Pappy's 12 year old), and an interesting distillery tour
was a good way to break up my drive to Ohio.

First Annual Spirit of Cleveland Airstream Rally
This was the first WBCCI (Wally Byam Caravan Club International) rally
that I officially attended, and it was a blast. Perfectly located
at Burke Lakefront Airport, right on Lake Erie, it was within easy
walking distance to many of Cleveland's downtown attractions. Urban
camping rocks in downtown Cleveland! It's a rare treat when I can
park in the heart of a big city and avoid the hassle of driving and
parking my monster tow vehicle on downtown streets. The Cleveland
unit is a fun bunch of folks and they organized tours of some of
Cleveland's major cultural highlights, including the West Side market,
the Browns stadium and Playhouse Square. The rally got a lot of media
attention and was a great success. I was so glad to be a part of
it. Go next year! My dad become the official photographer and
a portfolio of images can be seen at his website HERE.
Now if only Burke Lakefront Airport would permanently parcel off a
small portion of its parking lot for friendly RVers to visit anytime...

After the rally, it was just a short wait before heading to Jackson
Center for my service appointment and meeting with
Airstream's top execs to discuss my failed 2007 Airstream Safari SE.
